Mechanism of action

Azithromycin fights diseases caused by bacteria in the body. This medication is aimed at preventing bacteria from producing protein which is necessary for their existence. Protein is needed so that bacteria can grow and increase in number. With the help of Azithromycin bacteria can’t grow and is killed by immune system of the body.

How to use

Mostly Azithromycin can be taken regardless of food intake.
There is only one exception: Zmax extended release liquid needs to be taken only on an empty stomach. It will take 1 or 2 hours for the patient to wait till it will be possible to have a meal. The above mentioned form of Azithromycin is taken poured in water without leaving any part of it for further usage. After it was taken pour some more water into the glass, swirl and drink it to make sure you’ve taken all of it.
Don’t store mixed Zmax extended release liquid for more than 12 hours.
Dosage may differ for different infections.

If you missed the dose

Taken the missed dose the very moment you’ve remembered about it. Still the missed dose should be skipped if it is time to take the next one.
Remember that doubling the dose may lead to overdosing.

Things to avoid while taking Azithromycin
